There are two worst enemies of success:

  1. The path of least resistance: The path of least resistance is what causes people to take the easy way in almost every situation, they seek shortcuts to every thing that they want in life.
  2. The principle of the expediency factor: This principle says that people invariably seek the fastest way to get things they want right now; with little or no concern for the long term consequences of their behavior.

Short term gain can cause long term long term pain.

There are two laws under this situation:

  1. Law of unintended consequences: this law states that unintended consequences of an action can be far worse than the intended consequences of that behavior because of the lack of long term thinking.
  2. Law of perverse consequences: this law states that a short term action aimed at immediate gratification can lead to perverse consequences from those at which it was aimed
